Tzniyus-Alert service for drivers via pashkevil

The new tzniyus alert system for drivers desperately needs to be upgraded. Puttng up pashkevils in Mea Shearim about avoiding an immodest billboard at a major intersection near Hertzliya is simply not going to cut it for most drivers.

I think it is time for the Committee for Purity of the Camp to partner with Waze and other GPS service providers and put such warnings into the GPS maps. As well, they could have an option in the settings of Waze, just like they ask whether to include toll roads in calculated routes or not, whether to not to avoid highways, to avoid dirt roads, only show roads under Israeli authority, they should also offer the option of avoiding routes that are marked as having immodest billboards or events.

The Committee could have someone tracking where all the immodest billboards are, where all the concerts are, where the movie theaters, bowling alleys and whatever else ehrliche yidden are supposed to avoid, and plug all those coordinates into Waze and have routes recalculated to avoid those areas.

The Committee for Purity of the Camp put up a pashkevil informing the concerned public of Mea Shearim and RBS B that at the Pi Glilot interchange there is an extremely immodest billboard in place advertising the Hamashbir l'Tzorchan store.

Unfortunately no image of the billboard is included in the article on Kikar, nor on the pashkevil, for us to evaluate it for ourselves. I guess we have to take their word for it.

The Committee is trying to use various methods to persuade Hamashbir to replace the ad with one more modest and appropriate. In the meantime, they say, drivers from the direction of Haifa should avoid that area if possible by turning off onto Highway 20 about 2 kilometers prior to that junction, and take the 20 to Hertzliya and merge there onto the Ayalon Highway.

I don't know how many drivers from RBS B and Mea Shearim are driving from Haifa to Jerusalem via the Pi Glilot Junction, but the tzniyus alert service would be much more useful if expanded as explained above...

  1. Brilliant. You have a real money maker on your hands. Except that those who would need the app wouldn't have a smartphone....
