Mayor Moshe Abutbol featured in Mishpacha Magazine

Mayor of Bet Shemesh Moshe Abutbol was featured in this week's Hebrew edition Mishpacha magazine. If you are interested in the goings on of Bet Shemesh, you should make an effort to read it, if you have not already.

I am not sure what they were trying to do, but it seems to me that the article portrayed Abutbol as a bit of a nebbach - a good guy, probably not really fit for the job of mayor, somebody nobody, even his friends, really wants in that capacity but they are resigned to him being the guy for tactical reasons.. It happens to be I have thought that of him all along, though not as a "nebbach" type of a guy, just nice guy, good person, not mayor-material, but this strengthened that and maybe increased that perception...

Now I am sure that Moshe Abutbol is savvy and knows how to use his vast political connections. You don't become mayor without it - or at least it is very rare to just fall into the position without all that. But he comes off publicly as being a nebbach who should not be in this position. I even feel a bit sorry for him.

If you read the article, what was your impression?

  4. Ami - the magazine that featured the Satmar child molester's lawyer, right? Says a lot.
Unfortunately Abutbol does too much public shrugging his shoulders and otherwise sending the message that "there's nothing to be done" - he might be a political superhero behind the scenes but way too many people in Bet Shemesh don't see it.

  5. the Ami article seemed more like a pro-Abutbol, everything-is-hunkydory-in-beit shemesh pr literature than journalism
