The end of the pashkevil!

It looks like we are about to see the end of the pashkevil.. at least, of the pashkevil as we know it.

The City of Jerusalem has decided to put an end to the classic pashkevil in an attempt to clean up and beautify the city.

From now on, it will be illegal to paste the signs all over town on walls and whatnot. the City has been installing notice boards - tens of new boards all around town for official notices, and another set of tens of boards has been installed for residential use, for hanging funeral notices, sales, and the like.

The City is working in conjunction with the printers and the sign hangers to implement the new policy. They say they will track down offenders - people who paste "pirate" signs, and will fine them heavily.

The new boards have been installed in areas like Ramat Shlomo, Har Nof, Mea Shearim, and other places around town.

Ancient lore says the walls of Jerusalem are held together by the glue of the pashkevilim... I wonder if the walls will start crumbling and falling without the pashkevilim holding them up...
